The Story of the Gadarene
(Matt. 8.28-34; Mk 5:1-20; Luke 8:26-39)
Mark 5:1 – And they came over unto the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gadarenes. And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man restrain him. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped him, and cried with a loud voice, and said, “What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.” For he said unto him, “Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.” And he asked him, “What is thy name?” And he answered, saying, “My name is Legion: for we are many.”
The manifestations we see in Jesus’ ministry to the Gaderene are presently apparent among the youth of today as we see them behave in the same bondages as the Gadarene. As Jesus delivered the Gadarene so the youth can and will be delivered through Jesus Christ power and authority in the believer. (Joel 2:32)
Because of the New Testament focus of the healing of the whole person more is required than just driving out demons. The root causes that drove this man, and the youth of today, are to be discovered and exposed to see a meaningful recovery and reinstatement to a functional life.
Hi my name is James Cambrelen and I have been expirencing some problems with a Spirt that is living in my apartment things that I cant explain like My wife was sleeping in the bedroom and she felt some thing put pressure on her back and little 4 year old son clames to see him and he says that the Spirt is playing hide and seek What can I do???
Hi James,
The first place to start is to find out where Satan has any legal (from a spiritual perspective) grounds for attacking your wife in such a fashion. Have you, or your wife, had any involvement in the occult at all? Please prayerfully read through our checklist of occult involvement to determine this.
Once you have found the open door, you need to repent of any involvement, then thank the Lord for your freedom and after that in authority of Christ renounce every demonic hold over your wife to remove Satan’s grounds.
In all of these actions you need to understand that Jesus has defeated Satan, and as such Satan and his demons are subject to the name of Jesus. Please work through our post on Isaiah 54:17 for more information on this.
If this intrusion happens again, you should rebuke the harassing spirit in the name of Jesus, and command it to leave your apartment.
